What is the character limit on X?

Accounts without Premium can post up to 280 characters on X. Premium accounts can post up to 25,000. X raised the limit from 140 to 280 characters in November 2017.

How X counts the characters of a tweet

Each link counts as 23 characters, however long it is. Each emoji counts as 2, & so does a flag or a family emoji. Each Chinese, Japanese or Korean character counts as 2. Latin letters, digits, spaces & line breaks count as 1 each.
